Steel Tank Trials
HAWC collaborators are testing an alternative to the plastic tanks envisioned in the design of HAWC. We would use a steel pipe lined with a water-tight plastic bag. These steel tanks have potential advantages over the plastic tanks in that they would be assembled at the site, saving in transportation costs, and they can be manufactured quite large. Some pictures of the steel tank concept are available using a corrugated steel pipe with 15 foot diameter and 15 feet high.
