Gamma-Hadron Separation

The idea here is to see how well you can distignuish gamma ray events in the detector and cosmic ray events in the detector. A figure will be shown and you guess whether it's a simulated gamma-ray event or a simulated cosmic-ray event. The colors show how hard a channel is hit in PEs, scaled by the number of hit channels in the event (the numerical axis is actually nHit/nPE). Red channels are hit harder. What you are looking for in cosmic ray events is hard-hit channels far from the shower core. These isolated hard hits indicate the presence of muons or other penetrating particles in the shower and that the shower is most likely a cosmic-ray event.

Is this a gamma-ray or a proton event?
